Texas Parent Taught Drivers Ed Terms & Conditions

BACKGROUND

This Terms of Use Agreement ("CONTRACT") is a legally binding agreement between you ("STUDENT" or "PARENT/GUARDIAN") and Asian Driving School ("COMPANY"). By enrolling in the Parent-Taught Drivers Education (PTDE) course, you agree to be bound by all terms herein and applicable Texas law.

Parent-Taught Drivers Education is authorized under Texas Education Code ยง1001.112 and TDLR rules. This program allows an eligible parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, foster parent, or court-appointed legal guardian to teach the classroom portion of driver education to a qualifying minor.

SCHOOL INFORMATION

Legal Name: Asian Driving School

TDLR License Number: C3428

Course Title: Parent-Taught Drivers Education (PTDE)

Regulatory Authority: Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)

Applicable Law: Texas Education Code ยง1001.112; 37 TAC Chapter 84

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To participate in the PTDE program, the following requirements must be met:

(a) The STUDENT must be at least 14 years of age and under 18 years of age at the time of enrollment.

(b) The PARENT/GUARDIAN instructor must be a parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, foster parent, or court-appointed legal guardian of the STUDENT, hold a valid (non-suspended, non-revoked) Texas driver license, and have held a Texas driver license for the preceding three years.

(c) The PARENT/GUARDIAN must obtain a PTDE Authorization Number from the Texas DPS before beginning any instruction. The Authorization Number is valid for one year.

(d) STUDENT must not have been convicted of, placed on deferred adjudication for, or required to complete a drug or alcohol awareness program for any offense while operating a motor vehicle.

COURSE STRUCTURE AND REQUIREMENTS

The PTDE curriculum must include:

  1. 1.At least 24 hours of classroom instruction, which may be completed via this online course;
  2. 2.At least 7 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction provided and supervised by the PARENT/GUARDIAN;
  3. 3.7 hours of observation (STUDENT observing another licensed driver); and
  4. 4.A minimum of 30 hours of behind-the-wheel practice logged by the PARENT/GUARDIAN, including 20 hours of daytime driving and 10 hours of nighttime driving. All practice hours must be accurately recorded in the parent-supervised driving log and submitted as required by Texas DPS.

The PARENT/GUARDIAN instructor is responsible for providing, supervising, and documenting all behind-the-wheel and observation hours on the required PTDE Packet. Asian Driving School is responsible only for providing the online classroom instruction portion.

The PTDE Packet must be ordered directly by the PARENT/GUARDIAN from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). It is the sole responsibility of the PARENT/GUARDIAN to obtain this packet from TDLR before beginning any online, online-live (Zoom), or in-person classroom instruction. Asian Driving School does not provide, mail, or order the PTDE Packet on behalf of any STUDENT or PARENT/GUARDIAN.

Once STUDENT finishes all classroom modules and passes all assessments, a Certificate of Completion for the classroom portion will be issued. The PARENT/GUARDIAN must then fill out the PTDE Packet and submit it to the Texas DPS to apply for STUDENT's driver license.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

This course issues two separate certificates, both available through the student portal and automatically generated upon eligibility. STUDENT is responsible for requesting each certificate โ€” neither is issued automatically without a request.

Learner Certificate (DE-964 โ€” Learner License): After completing the first 3 chapters with a minimum score of 70% on all assessments, STUDENT may request a Learner Certificate through the portal. This certificate is required to apply for a Texas Learner License at the Texas DPS.

Final Certificate (DE-964 โ€” Driver License): After completing all 12 chapters and passing all modules and the final examination with a minimum score of 70%, STUDENT may request the Final Certificate of Completion. This certificate, together with the completed PTDE Packet documenting all behind-the-wheel and observation hours, must be submitted to the Texas DPS when STUDENT applies for a full driver license.

A STUDENT who signs a Certificate of Completion without having received the required instruction commits a Class C misdemeanor under Texas Education Code ยง1001.207.

IMPACT TEXAS TEEN DRIVERS (ITTD)

Prior to the road test, STUDENT must complete the Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) program, available free of charge at impacttexasdrivers.dps.texas.gov. The printed ITTD certificate is required on the day of the road test. Asian Driving School does not administer the ITTD program; this requirement is separate from and in addition to this course.

SECURITY AND VALIDATION

This course includes TDLR-required identity and validation mechanisms. STUDENT and PARENT/GUARDIAN acknowledge that only the registered STUDENT may complete the online coursework. Any attempt to circumvent the course or have another person complete it is illegal and may result in criminal penalties, loss of the certificate, and forfeiture of all fees paid.

TUITION AND FEES

The total course fee is displayed at the time of enrollment. This fee covers the online classroom instruction portion only. Fees for the Texas DPS Authorization Number, DPS processing, or any required physical materials are separate and not included.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

STUDENT may request a full refund within 30 days of enrollment, subject to the conditions below.

No refund will be issued if:

  1. 1.STUDENT has successfully completed the course;
  2. 2.STUDENT has received a failing grade on Chapter 3 โ€” at which point the enrollment becomes non-refundable;
  3. 3.STUDENT has been issued a Learner License Certificate; or
  4. 4.STUDENT has completed the first 3 chapters of the course. Once any of these conditions are met, the enrollment is considered active and non-refundable, regardless of whether the full course has been finished.

To request a refund, contact Asian Driving School at support@asiandrivingschool.us. Eligible refunds are processed within 15 business days of approval.

PARENT/GUARDIAN RESPONSIBILITIES

The PARENT/GUARDIAN instructor is solely responsible for:

  1. 1.Obtaining and maintaining a valid PTDE Authorization Number from the Texas DPS;
  2. 2.Ordering the PTDE Packet directly from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) โ€” Asian Driving School does not provide or order this packet;
  3. 3.Providing all required behind-the-wheel and observation instruction;
  4. 4.Accurately completing and submitting the PTDE Packet to the Texas DPS; and (v) ensuring STUDENT meets all DPS requirements before applying for a driver license.

Asian Driving School is not responsible for any failure by the PARENT/GUARDIAN to fulfill these responsibilities or for any consequences arising therefrom.
